This award winning rural station is adopted by the Friends of Chirk Station, a community group who work with the Chester-Shrewsbury Rail Partnership. They have carried out many improvements at the station (see News and Events page). Their latest project was fundraising for a CCTV system.
The station is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Chirk and the canal, aqueduct and caravan park are all close by. Chirk Castle is a 1.5km walk through some beautiful countryside and rail travellers can obtain 2 for 1 admission on production of a valid rail ticket.
Trains leave here for Wrexham, Chester, Holyhead and for Shrewsbury, Birmingham and Cardiff.
This is an unstaffed station but passenger information is relayed via a PA system. There is a free car park and the station is monitored by a CCTV system which was recently installed.
Telephone numbers of local taxis can be found on the information boards at the station
